arianne Dougherty worked at a newspaper in Pittsburgh for five years before moving to Los Angeles in 1989 to become Senior Editor for American Salon. She was promoted to Executive Editor after starting American Stylist Magazine. In 1994, Marianne became publisher of American and relocated to New York City. Promoted to the position of Director of Editorial and Creative Development, Marianne started American Spa and Shades of Beauty.
In 2001, after having relocated to her hometown of Pittsburgh, Marianne became the founding editor of Launchpad Magazine. She was editor in chief for five years. In 2006, Marianne accepted the position of editor in chief for American Salon and moved to NewYork. Last year she started American Beauty, a makeup magazine for beauty professionals that publishes quarterly and mails to 30,000 American Salon subscribers.
Marianne also wrote Asain Beauty (HarperCollins) for celebrity makeup artist Margaret Kimura, who lives in Los Angeles.
