Starting off her career more than 10 years ago answering phones in an AVEDA salon in Florida, Daisy began her love affair with the beauty industry. With an incessant passion for education, she began taking AVEDA advanced education classes in haircutting, coloring and styling prior to her first day of beauty school. After her ventures in renting chairs and working out of her one-room studio, Daisy created her own hair haven by opening up her own salon, OM Beauty, two years ago.

While working tirelessly to build her business and clientele, Daisy took a journey that would change her life and career forever. She joined 11 young, talented hairstylists from across the country to compete for the title of “Shear Genius” and $100,000. Through battles of recreating celebrity looks, taking daytime work hairdo’s to nighttime glam-do’s and proudly being placed on the Allure Wall of Fame for her win in episode 7, Daisy glided into the finals.

“This experience helped me to grow both personally and professionally, as well as allowed me to show off my versatility in hairstyling,” states, Daisy Duchens, season one Shear Genius finalist. “I went on the show not knowing what to expect and now I am scurrying around just trying to keep up. Life is phenomenal.”

Along with being a practitioner of the Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation called Reiki, Daisy is also passionate about her desire to educate and expose the Hispanic market to a new mindset of the hairdressing world. “The world is now about sharing, education, fashion and awareness, not about ego,” explains Duchens.

Today Daisy is building her business and her life. Her passion for AVEDA, continuing her education as well as others and growing her shop gives Daisy her drive and ability to take each day with open arms.
